Vloggercue West 2005

dojoThe Digital Dojo is opening it's sliding shoji doors on July 9th at 12noon PDT for a vlogger bar-b-que and video link up with the other Vloggercue's around the world.

dojoPlease come celebrate the opening of our new Node 101 teaching facility in beautiful Ojai, California and connect with videobloggers around the world. Join us in this celebration of this "Summer of Vlog" event.

dojoThere are nice picnic and patio deck areas around a large lawn, picnic tables, charcoal bbq's, a fire pit, a swing set, breath-taking mountain views, enchanting grounds with bamboo, exotic plants and flowers, fruit trees, rose gardens and lots of birds, horses (nearby), wildlife and of course the Digital Dojo itself. We are located just a few hundred feet from the entrance to the Ventura River - Racncho El Nido Nature Preserve, where you can take short or long nature hikes. There is a nearby trolly that tours Ojai. We are also just a few minutes drive from scenic Lake Casitas (fishing, boating, camping, bikes) and about a twenty minute drive to the Pacific Ocean at Rincon.

Ventura River PreserveAs with Ojai's world famous "Pink Moment", there is something special here that can't be described or explained; it can only be experienced. Call it an energy or a spirit if you like, but there is also an incredible sense of peace here. It is no wonder that Ojai is often refered to as "Shangri-La".

dojoWe have our DSL wireless up and running and are hoping to have our broadband cable connection in place for the event as well. So free and open Internet Wi-Fi access will be available. We will videoconference with the other Vloggercues throughout the event (bandwidth willing) and be giving lots of demonstrations of FireANT, Not TV, videoblogging, open-source music, collaboration, dancing, darknets, kite flying (wind permitting), video and Tai-Chi. Feel free to bring your laptop and cameras. Please leash your pup as there is a fair amount of wildlife around the Dojo.

dojoIf you wish, please feel free to bring something to share (pot luck), but know that this is not a requirement and all videobloggers (or would-be videobloggers) and their friends are welcome. RSVP if you can so we can plan the right number of chairs, forks, etc. There is also a Grill Fund if you just want to drop a little something in the hat to help feed everyone.

Ventura River PreserveWe are about an hour's drive north of Los Angeles; just take 101 North to Ventura and then cut east on Highway 33 to Ojai. We are close to the Santa Barbara county line. There is a very scenic, lake-view drive from Carpentaria to Ojai on Highway 150 (always check for detours and closures after a good rain).

Please check the sidebar for directions and a map.

Please RSVP by leaving a comment or by sending an email.
